BlackBerry White Q10In January BlackBerry announced BlackBerry 10— “the re-designed, re-engineered, and re-invented BlackBerry platform that creates a new and unique mobile computing experience.” Get ready for the launch–and the launch of many Blackberry 10 models to suit different needs and price ranges.

BlackBerry’s Z10 smartphone launched in New Zealand yesterday. It’s already available in the U.S., but is designed to prove to consumers that BlackBerry can move beyond its iconic keyboard and design a touchscreen device. (The Blackberry pictured is the Q10).

Matthew Ball, managing director of BlackBerry in New Zealand and Australia, was confident that the market would love the new device. “The platform learns from your gestures, commands and words and is designed to keep you moving, whether at work or at play,” Ball said. “The availability of the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone and BlackBerry 10 platform introduces exciting new possibilities for our customers, channel partners and app developers.”

The 10-family’s many advancements include a 1.5 GHz dual core processor and is equipped with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and an expandable memory slot that can supports 32GB cards. All of this equates to lots of memory and speed.

New Zealand isn’t where the buzz ends, however.

After being tested in Canada and U.K., the second member of the 10-family, the Q10 will be launching in the U.S. today (June 5) with all major carriers. The Q10 boasts the same 10-family advancements and includes the physical keyboard that’s a BlackBerry signature feature.

Kirstian Tear, BlackBerry Chief Operating Officer, told Reuters, “This is a very exciting day for us, launching with all four major U.S. carriers.” Tear was confident that the new Blackberries would be able to win back customers who have strayed to other devices.

Reuters is reporting that 60 percent of Fortune 500 companies are already using BlackBerry’s new line.

The big-daddy of the 10-family is the A10. CNet is reporting that the A10 will launch during the holidays and feature an all-touchscreen design.

AllThingsD reported that Sprint is already signed up to carry the A10 in November, but this partnership won’t be exclusive. Many expect other carriers to follow.

Tear declined comment on the A10 when she spoke to CNet, but did say that “Innovation is a really, really important cornerstone for BlackBerry.”

With all the buzz, it looks like BlackBerry is out to prove it.
